Ingredients needed:
Cupcake mix (eggs, oil, and water per directions)
Icing--any kind, I used vanilla. Strawberry would be pretty too!
Baking cups
Nonstick spray (like PAM)
A muffin/cupcake tin
Fruit roll ups in red and green at least, yellow if you want yellow roses too
Optional-Sprinkles
Optional-Red jelly hearts
Mix the cupcake mix according to the directions. Fill baking cups about 2/3 full---not too full or they'll expand too much while cooking!
To make the roses, you need fruit roll ups or fruit by the foot. Cut a one inch strip and roll it up to make the center. Then cut out petal shapes and adhere to the rolled center. Watch Megan's video to get a more detailed explanation!
The final product will look like this!
Since the roses are tedious and time consuming, I alternated them with cherry jelly hearts. You can spread the frosting on with a knife, or put it in a sandwich bag, cut a small hole in the corner, and pipe the icing on. It looks so pretty!
I also made cookies. No secret here though, just buy Pilsbury pre-made sugar cookies and pop them in the oven. The heart tray was only $1.50 at Wal-mart! To make the cookie sandwiches (the ones at the top of the tray), put icing between two sugar cookies and adhere. Roll the sides in sprinkles. Super easy and cute!
