HELP! Which pair of boots?

Hi my lovely ladies (& gentltmen)! So in my previous Wishlist Post I mentioned that I wanted a pair of cowboy boots to go with a dress I plan on wearing to The Cotton Eye Joe, a night club in Knoxville. I have been searching around on the net to find a few candidates for boots and I just can't decide between two pairs!

Here's a picture of the dress that I'll be wearing them with:

And now for the boots!

*Candidate number 1:
Brown Scrunch Western Boots, $31.99, eBay

I like that the rich brown color will match the brown in my belt, but in a way I feel like these don't really look like cowboots...know what I mean? But I love the scrunchy sides and they are clearly "Western" inspired.

*Candidate number 2:
Old West Distressed Leather Cowgirl Boots, $49.99, Sheplers.com
Sheplers Old West Women's Distressed Leather Cowgirl Boots
These are more traditional cowboy boots. I think these would look good with the dress and also with short denim shorts (which for some reason is what girls like to wear to the Cotton Eyed Joe). The thing is these are 50 bucks, not including tax, shipping, & handling. It will probably end up at around $70 dollars...I'm not sure if I can spend that much on something I might only wear a few times.

So, what do you think?

Black Swan

Black SwanPersonally, I loved Black Swan. Natalie Portman (Nina) offers a great portrayal of a fragile, innocent ballerina that can't handle the stress of the starring role. It's a psychological drama, my favorite genre of movies. The film follows Nina as she discovers a dark side of herself she never knew existed and falls pray to the pressure and psychological distress of trying to be the perfect Black Swan. Mila Kunis (Lily) plays her rival, an edgy and seductive newcomer to her ballet company. Nina's competition with Lily and her fear that Lily will take her starring role drives her madness. On a side note, the make-up and costumes are phenomenal. I especially love Mila Kunis's dark style in the film.

The Black Swan, guile and seductiveness

The White Swan, innocence and grace

I love Mila's dark smoky look. She is definitely one of my celeb inspirations.

Mila and Natalie make this movie awesome, in my opinion. If you like psychological thrillers, suspense, and drama, as well as visually stunning costumes, check out Black Swan.
Pre-order it....I definitely am!

Spring & Summer Fashion Trends 2011

I am so excited for spring! Stores are stocking spring clothing and I've noticed a few trends that seem to be everywhere. With any fashion trend, take it or leave it. Pick out the ones you like and ignore the rest--that's what I do anyways. The whole crop-top 80's thing...no, I will not be jumping on that bandwagon. More power to you if you can rock that. I pick trends that I like & I think will be flattering on my body type. Here's my top 7 favorite trends that I'm excited about  this spring!
7.) Lace, so girly and delicate. Perfect for spring. Black lace was popular this winter, try lighter pastel colors for spring.

6.) Sheer blouses. I personally would wear a tank top under these but I like the flirty femininity of the sheer, light fabric.

5.) Neutrals. Especially white.

4.) Stripes. I went to Forever 21 the other day and dang, the whole store looked striped.

3.) Floral prints. These have been in fashion for a few seasons now.

2.) 70's inspired fashion, especially bell bottoms. Also includes maxi dresses, chunky heels, clogs, and hot pants.

1.) Chunky wedges. Stemming from the 70's theme. Can be espadrilles or cork (or even wood!). I love them! Most are neutral colors---taupe, tan, brown, black.

As you can see, a lot of the styles overlap....white & lace, floral and lace, sheer tops & 70s inspired style, floral and 70s, wedges and 70s. I bought a couple of spring things at Target this week, when I have a photographer handy (a.k.a my fiancée) I'll haul them and put some outfits together from my own closet showing the way I would wear these styles. Again, I only wear the trends that I like and leave the rest, and wear them how I want. So if I pair 70s cork wedges with a lace dress, don't kill me okay? ;-) Look for that post early next week!

Thank you so much for reading! What spring trends are you excited about the most? Any of these that you LOVE or HATE?
